Family-Friendly Spring Activities

family-friendly spring activities

February is right around the corner and we’re getting excited about the weather growing warmer over the next few months. If you’re already dreaming about spring like we are, you’ll love these family-friendly spring activities! From hiking to crafting, we compiled a list of fun activities that you can enjoy all season long.

Enjoy a nearby hiking trail

If you read our Fun Family Fall Activities blog, you’ll know that we’re big fans of hiking or walking trails. Enjoying the great outdoors and checking out the beautiful scenery is an amazing way to spend the day with your loved ones. If your hometown isn’t close to any hiking trails, you can also enjoy a neighbourhood walk with your family. In addition, if you need some awesome gear at low prices to outfit your hike, you can check out our partner store, Be Outside.

Create Spring-themed Crafts

If you usually experience a rainy spring, you’ll want to keep some fun craft supplies available for your little ones! These DIY Easy Pipecleaner Tulips and Daffodils were created by Debbie Chapman, founder of One Little Project. You’ll likely already have the supplies for this craft at home. To make this craft, use the pipecleaners to design a fun, bright flower display with your kids. These pipecleaner flowers would also make an awesome decoration for any party or gathering.

Make Homemade Granola Bars

Amy Palanjian from Yummy Toddler Food shares her amazing granola bar recipe that only takes 30 minutes here. These tasty bars are an awesome snack to make with your children. As a bonus, you can also make tons of bars to save for later too! Palanjian notes that you can freeze these granola bars for up to 3 months. Cooking with your children is a great way to help them practice some beginner kitchen skills, while also stocking up on tasty treats.

Spend some time in the garden

If your home has a yard, planting flowers as a family is a great way to teach your kids about gardening! Before gardening, you could take a trip to your local garden centre with your children to pick out some seeds or produce to grow. You can even make a picnic lunch and lemonade to share outside with your family members after a fun afternoon of gardening.

We’re so looking forward to spring and we hope that these activities have you excited for warmer weather! Spending time outside as a family is an amazing way to enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle.
